Frequently Asked Questions
What is an off-grid cottage?
The cottage is solar powered to meet amenities for daily living. There is no direct power from a hydro company. The power for the cottage relies primarily on solar panels to charge the batteries that provide the power to the cottage. This is particularly the case during the high season summer months. Should the batteries that are charged by solar, get depleted the generator will kick in to replenish the battery power.
Is there a washer and dryer on site?
Yes, there is a washing machine and a dryer onsite. They are located in an outbuilding next to the cottage. It is important to be mindful of being off grid, and doing laundry be limited. Once per week is preferred. Drying clothes can be done on the clothesline. But the dryer is available for convenience or if the weather is not favorable.
Is there a bar b q?
There is a bar b q on the back deck close to the eating area. The bar b q is directly connected to the cottage propane tanks. Please be mindful to turn off the bar b q when not in use.
